What is Kewanee Food Pantry?
Kewanee Food Pantry is a private nonprofit organization that collects, stores and redistributes surplus food to other charities that have food programs. The Food Pantry has been serving the public in our community since the 1980's.

How much food does the pantry distribute annually?
The Kewanee Food Pantry is the hunger relief organization in the Kewanee, IL region with an annual distribution rate of around one million pounds of food.

Where is The Kewanee Food Pantry located?
The Food Pantry is located at 924 Rose St Kewanee, IL. The building is equipped with frozen storage capabilities to handle perishable as well as non-perishable food items.

How does the pantry get its food?
The pantry receives food from various sources within the food industry. Wholesalers, distributors and retailers are able to donate their surplus food to Kewanee Food Pantry. The donated product is not marketable for a variety of reasons but is still safe and edible. Mislabeled, overproduced, test market items and products with short code dates are some examples of products which are distributed. The pantry also receives food from the state of Illinois.
People fro the community can participate by donating food through one of the largest food drives in the Kewanee area: Letter Carriers Food Drive.

Does the pantry charge for donated food?
No. There is never a charge to eligible participants. 

Does Kewanee Food Pantry operate any other programs?
Yes. The Kewanee Food pantry helps with a program called "Backpack for kids"

How does my contribution to the foodbank make a difference?
For every dollar contributed, the Kewanee food Pantry can distribute $18 worth of food. A $10 donation will enable us to distribute from $180 worth of food.
